Biochemical and Associated Agronomic Traits in Gossypium hirsutum L. under High Temperature Stress

چکیده
Heat tolerance is a physiologically and genetically complex trait regulated by multiple genes. To investigate the genetic basis of heat tolerance, eight parents (five lines three testers) their fifteen F1 hybrids were evaluated under normal high-temperature stress conditions for two consecutive years. Data recorded plant height, number bolls, boll weight, seed cotton yield, ginning out turn (GOT%), H2O2, catalase, peroxidase, super-oxidase dismutase, total soluble proteins, carotenoids, chlorophyll & b contents, short fiber index, strength, UHML, micronaire value, reflectance, uniformity index. Line × tester analysis suggested that contribution was higher than testers. Non-additive gene action observed all studied traits. The variances SCA greater GCA traits revealed these governed few largely dominant Fb-Shaheen, Eagle-2 JSQ White Gold found good general combiner whereas cross Fb-Shaheen specific significant better parent heterosis most during years high temperature conditions. information obtained could be utilized in breeding program development new synthetic varieties tolerance.

Response and Tolerance Mechanism of Cotton Gossypium hirsutum L. to Elevated Temperature Stress: A Review
Cotton is an important multipurpose crop which is highly sensitive to both biotic and abiotic stresses. Proper management of this cash crop requires systematic understanding of various environmental conditions that are vital to yield and quality. High temperature stress can severely affect the viability of pollens and anther indehiscence, which leads to significant yield losses. Cotton can resp...
متن کاملRNA-Seq Transcriptome Profiling of Upland Cotton (Gossypium hirsutum L.) Root Tissue under Water-Deficit Stress
An RNA-Seq experiment was performed using field grown well-watered and naturally rain fed cotton plants to identify differentially expressed transcripts under water-deficit stress. Our work constitutes the first application of the newly published diploid D5 Gossypium raimondii sequence in the study of tetraploid AD1 upland cotton RNA-seq transcriptome analysis. A total of 1,530 transcripts were...
متن کاملPhysiological Mechanism of Nitrogen Mediating Cotton (Gossypium hirsutum L.) Seedlings Growth under Water-Stress Conditions
The objective of this investigation was to study the effects of nitrogen on tolerance to water-stress in cotton (Gossypium hirsutum L.) seedlings. Growth chamber studies with pots of washed sand were carried out in Fayetteville, USA, and Nanjing, Chinawith three water conditions (well-watered, drought-stressed, and waterlogging), and three nitrogen rates, low nitrogen (16 mM, approximately 224 ...
متن کاملHeterosis and Combining Ability for Earliness and Its Related Traits in Cotton (gossypium Hirsutum L.)
Cotton is one of the most important commercial crops in India, playing a key role in national economy. Short duration and high yielding varieties are always required for better quality and lint production. Early maturing crops avoid disease and pest epidemics due to which plant breeders have positioned adequate pressure on the development of early maturing crop plants (Singh, 2004). Term earlin...
متن کاملRepeatability and stability analysis for fiber traits in upland cotton (Gossypium hirsutum L.)
Cotton fiber quality is defined by several traits, which are affected by genotype×environment interaction (GEI). The objectives of this work were to study GEI of fiber traits, the repeatability and the effect of the size of testing environments in detecting cultivar genetic differences by High Volume Instrument (HVI), and the usefulness of two GEI derived stability indices, σ2i and GGE Instabil...
